An exciting new concept in holistic fitness is now in Suttons Bay. Based on
the premise that variety encourages both health and fitness, Body Balance is
bringing a range of activities and disciplines together. Located in Hansen's
Bayview Village in Suttons Bay, Body Balance offers Yoga Classes, Circuit
Training, Pilates, Aerobics, and T'ai Chi, all taught by some of the most
experienced practitioners in the region.
Body Balance offers a unique approach to maintaining a holistic fitness
practice. Attaining balance through participation in varied activities is
the goal, achieved by participating in the many classes and activities
offered at the center. Body Balance users can choose a contemplative
center-directed session in yoga or t'ai chi, and on the same day participate
in an outgoing aerobics or strength training circuit.
Although to some degree the inner workings are still being shaped, the Body
Balance concept is becoming a reality. The superbly designed Body Balance
location opened on August 18, 2003. The facility has been carefully designed
to create an ambiance that reflects and encourages a mindful condition where
serious work is comfortably and effortlessly done. State-of-the-art circuit
strength training equipment will share the space with a dedicated studio for
other classes. Floor space at Body Balance will also support the many
integrated disciplines scheduled to take place. "When you come in, you'll
feel nothing but welcome," said Pryor. "Anyone can come into Body Balance
and find an activity that interests them, at a level they feel comfortable
with... and for us, the happy accidents that will happen - the strength
training afficionado or step aerobics person - will take a look at the yoga
classes going on and just maybe decide to give something new a try...those
are the situations that will show the real value of Body Balance."
Many collaborative, interesting relationships are being formed through the
Body Balance venue. These include Bikram Yoga, Circuit Training for
Strength, NIA, STOTT Pilates, Body Recall, Step & Strength Variety, and T'ai
Chi for Arthritis.
